Is my blog 20% cooler?

You know, a big part of what I wanted to do with this blog was to talk about DINOSAURS (because I LOOOOVE them and so should you), but instead I just end up showing you a bunch of pictures of things I do with my siblings.  Someday I will get around to showing you awesome dinosaur things, I promise!  Today, I just have a post about ponies.  As in,  the "My Little" variety.  None of us are that into ponies or horses particularly, but we have been watching a lot of the new MLP TV show.  It's really funny, and we've collected some of the toys.

I think Apple Jack (the one I have there) is my favorite.

I didn't think Kit would really get into the toys. Surprise for me!
Kelsey likes Apple Jack, too.
Kit's favorite is Rainbow Dash. It's hard to get her to share that one!
OH! Also, I named my black lab puppy! Her name is Violet!  It doesn't really go with her brother's name (Zeus), or my other dog's name (Sadie), but that's okay.  We were trying on collars at a pet store, and once I saw her in the purple one, I just knew what her name was!

And MORE dogs

Last weekend the shelter we've been talking to called to say we were approved to have 2 labrador puppies.  Now I have TWO dogs, guys! It's so much work, but so worth it.  My brother took pictures of adoption day, so I have the whole story to share with you all.

I was giving Sadie a bath.
When Kit ran in yelling that the shelter called and we could go get the puppies today!
I plucked Sadie out and toweled her off super fast!
We took Coconut with us.
Here they are! They're siblings.  The black one is mine!
They definitely liked Coconut.  She liked them, too!

Me and Kelsey with our new friends.  Kelsey is calling her puppy Zeus.

Time to head home!
First thing Zeus did: jump in Sadie's bath water from that morning.

Kelsey, the chocolate one is DEFINITELY yours! :P

My dogs! I have to come up with a name for my lab!

Meet Sadie!

I wanted to let you all know I've decided to keep the golden retriever we've been fostering.  Her name is Sadie, and I have pictures!

Lost & Found

Wow, I really haven't been here in a while!  Sorry everyone! Things have been pretty crazy with us.  For one thing, we MOVED! It's not been easy, but I think I'm starting to get used to it.  Remember how excited I was to get glasses? Well, I'm not used to wearing them all the time, and I ended up packing them for the big move, and guess what got lost? Yep.  My glasses have disappeared.  We're still looking, but we might have to give up and replace them pretty soon.  I can still do most things without them, but looking at the board at school is a huge pain! I tried a pair of my brother's old ones, but they are just way too big for my face!  Heather says I'm much crankier since I managed to lose them, and I think she's right.  Keep your fingers crossed for me finding them, okay?

The good news is that now that we've finally gotten settled in, it's time to start thinking about dogs! Kelsey and I are the only ones in the family who hadn't gotten pets of our own yet.  My brother said he really wanted us to think about what sort of pet we wanted.  We have, hang on, let me count, 8 dogs, a guinea pig, and a llama right now.  This is most of them:
Left to right: Scout (Josh's Bernese Mountain Dog), Griffey (Alison's Westie), Wobbly (Rachel's llama), Snowball (Heather's husky mix), Cookie (Amy's border collie mix), Scotty (Kit's Scottish terrier), Lily (Ryan's Maltese mix), and Coconut (Kit's Westie).

You might have noticed that that's only 7 doggies.  That's because the 8th one is our new foster dog.  She's a golden retriever mix, and she might be staying on and be MY dog, but I don't know yet!  She's not really ours right now, so I am almost afraid to give her a new name.  I'm not ready to show you a picture of her yet, either.  We are supposed to go see a 6 month old labradoodle puppy pretty soon, too.  If that works out, that might be Kelsey's dog.  Here's a picture of him from the rescue:

We were also talking to another rescue that has a few lab puppies, with the idea of getting one for me and one for Kelse, but now I'm not sure.  I know my brother doesn't want a repeat of what happened with Kit (she has TWO dogs of her very own).  We already have so many critters, I know (but we have the space for more!), and I would love to have TWO!  I know Kelsey feels the same way.  She had pretty much decided on finding a lab, but then the labradoodle came up first, and he needs a home.  This feels like a huge decision.  How did you choose your pets?

Back with a new view!

Hi everyone! I know it's been practically FOREVER, but I got really caught up in all kind of things.  Now that it's summer, I think I will have more time for my blog.  My BIG news is that I got glasses! I wasn't upset about it at all! Finding out I needed glasses explained all my headaches, and now I can see everything sooo much better! Everything is clearer and reading is so much easier, too.  I really love them!

Reading with Kit and Kelsey!
I learned so much about eyes because of getting glasses. Did you know that the image that hits your retina is upside down, but your brain knows how to flip it right-side up? Or that you have 120 million rods and 7 million cones in each eye? You can learn more about eyes at this website !

I love my new glasses!

Birthday Present!

I was really surprised to find my birthday gift waiting for me when I got home from school today! It's the middle of the week, so I thought all of the celebrating was going to have to wait until the weekend.  I got a brand new Emily doll!

It's Emily Bennett! She's British and from the 1940s. During World War 2 she had to be sent to America to escape the bombings. My doll came with a copy of her book, but I'd read the school library's copy before.

I love that my American Girl is actually British, haha. She's Molly's best friend, and my sister has a Molly doll already!

She looks just like me, don't you think? Did you guys know my middle name is Emily?

Adventures in Fashion

Hi! Welcome again to my blog.  In this episode, I'm going to show you the little "experiment" I did today.  This is my sister, Kelsey:
Ever since we moved here, we've had to borrow almost all of our clothes from Kit.  She has been very understanding, but we know it bothers her a lot.  She's never really had to share her stuff this much before.  We don't have a lot of money for new stuff at the moment, and my big brother has had the kind of luck with Ebay lately that mostly makes him say words I'm not allowed to repeat, haha! SO TODAY,  Kelse and I decided to try to find some other clothes to borrow.  That's right, we went through clothes from our Build-A-Bear collection.
Some things, like these jeans, are just a bit off. These are supposed to be long jeans, but if they were just a little bit slimmer, they'd work as shorts.  Next!

No matter how much we like the shoes, they are just too darn big! Kelsey said we should use them to be Bratz dolls for Halloween next year.
Some things look like they are going to fit pretty well and then...they just don't fit AT ALL!  That vest practically has a built-in scarf!
My pajamas were slightly less ridiculous than Kelsey's.  I wish mine actually came in my size! Star Wars pajamas would be SO awesome-- I would love that.  The shirt was really hard to get on and off though.
Too bad we can't wear these all the time! The bathrobes probably fit us best out of anything.
However, don't get us started on the hats! There was one more major problem with these clothes...

TAIL HOLES!! Sorry, Kit, I think we're going to have to keep living out of your closet for now.

Hello!

I just wanted to get things started with this blog.  I'm not that exciting, but starting to write things down was my big brother's idea.  He helped me set up the blog and he even made me that banner at the top! My name is Abby.  I love books and dinosaurs! I have a really big family-- there are TEN of us in the house.

My blog is named after a dinosaur!  This is an abydosaurus:
It's a brachiosaurid sauropod! It was discovered in Utah and named just last year.  They eat plants and they are really REALLY big!  I put an extra B in the blog's name since my name is Abby.  Dinosaurs are the greatest.
